Supported by McCaffery, SCORE focuses on serving abandoned industrial corridors in Illinois and Indiana. The mission of the CDE is to invest New Market Tax Credits in operating businesses, education and healthcare community facilities, and fresh food anchored retail that will provide living wage jobs in the highly distressed, low-income communities that have experienced a loss of skilled employment opportunities, growing levels of lower educational achievement, and a lack of adequate access to goods and services.
Projects applying for funding must meet these threshold requirements to be considered for review:
- Qualify as High Distress under CDFI Fund guidelines
- Demonstrate alignment with community vision and goals
- Be located within CDE targeted area (all counties in Illinois and Indiana)
- Uphold the CDE mission to create or support operating businesses, education and healthcare community facilities, and fresh food anchored retail
