Flex-N-Gate (FNG) is a global automotive component and systems supplier and manufacturer with manufacturing, product development, and engineering facilities located throughout the Midwest and internationally. The sponsor recently received a new parts supply contract from North American original equipment vehicle manufacturers (OEMs) to supply production volume components for both electric and traditional propulsion vehicles. Upon completion, the project will manufacture and supply these components to vehicle assembly plants through out the U.S.

FNG operates manufacturing plants in Kentucky, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana and Michigan, and chose the Effingham location due to the positive community impact the new jobs and workforce training its investment will bring to the underserved community. FNG recognized the ability of its investment to positively reshape the community and the need for job creation and economic growth in this rural area.

Community Alignment

The Project is in alignment with the South Central Illinois FY2020-2022 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, in which manufacturing is listed as one of six major economic industry clusters. The project also  supports the economic development goals of the community, region, and state. The project will strengthen the region’s manufacturing industrial cluster, increase workforce participation and development opportunities, and offer advanced manufacturing training to its workforce.
