Meats by Linz is a supplier of quality meats, working with some of the nation’s top steakhouses. Its relocation to this Hammond facility marked the culmination of growth that has been years in the making. This new state-of-the-art meat processing facility contains quality-control measures in every facet of its operations, such as the generators that back up all of the freezers to prevent meat from ever spoiling in the event of a power outage.
Hammond, Indiana’s economy was once centered around the meat-packing industry. Its backbone was in the State Line Slaughterhouse, owned by George H. Hammond, which burned down over a century ago. Now, Meat by Linz is carrying on the torch and renewing Hammond’s position as a staple in the meat-packing industry and as a productive economic force.
Community Alignment
The project has received significant support from the Mayor of Hammond, IN and the surrounding area governments. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation provided $4 million of tax credits to this project to incentivize workers to participate in this expansion. Meat by Linz is a productive business and aims to be a productive community member. The SCORE investment in its relocation marks a starting point that will catalyze future economic growth in Lake County and the City of Hammond, IN.
